After spending the morning in the village de Caunes-Minervois, we headed to Limousis on the Villeneuve Minervois road: the landscapes were already amazing!
The cave is quite far from the little village of Limousis. After enjoying a look in the shop at the reception, the guide took us on a 5-minute climb, with breath-taking views, to the cave's entrance: literally a hole in the rock!
We were really in another world
We entered via a corridor lined with barrels for wine ageing, before reaching a majestic space. As we entered, we could see marks made by bear claws on the wall. The concretions are magnificent, we were really in another world!
A 600-metre long gallery
We crossed a succession of footbridges, blue-tinted lakes, each room in the cave more beautiful than the last (there is even one where the inhabitants of the village came for the village dance!)... in one place, you could even hear a bear roaring, so children: be good!
The highlight of the visit
A short, but intense, sound and light show, shows the bottom of the cave and its aragonite chandelier. It's a sight to behold!!
We returned the way we came, allowing us to see the cave from a different angle and take more photos.
The visit lasted one hour, perfect for children who never stay still for long.
Good to know
Although the floor is flat, there are some steps and some narrow and slippery areas, and it's about a 1.2km walk there and back.
The cave is open everyday from February to mid-November, with tour times that vary.

NB: For those who are afraid, the bear is thought to have lived in the cave 10,000 years ago!
