Regarding

The ruins of this dependency of Caunes-Minervois Abbey stand on top of a cliff above the village of Citou. The castle was built in the 16th century during the Wars of Religion, but the site has been referred to as a ‘castrum’ since 1183 and has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1948.
It looks more like a fortified house and makes use of a very strong natural position. This building is listed. The entrance was from the south (blocked by the local authority, the interior is not accessible). There is a fine turret at the south corner and a corbelled turret at the north corner. A few metres to the east, a rectangular silo has been carved out of the rock on what must have been a walled area belonging to the castle.
